Exam Preparation

Exam preparation classes at Insight Study focus on two aspects:
a) the language required for students to pass the exam successfully and
b) an in-depth understanding of the exam and learning useful exam strategies to take the exam with confidence.
It is important to understand that although all examinations test language, every test does it in different ways. Consultation with the Academic Manager is strongly advised to discuss the choice of exam you would like to study towards as well as the academic requirements for this exam.

(*availability of classes may depend on student numbers)

General English

Classes focus on developing your English language skills for everyday life situations. Teachers prepare lessons that are interesting, helpful and challenging for students depending on the focus of the class. All students will need to purchase a course book, (the price for course books is on the fees sheet under ‘supplements’) you can buy this on your first day at the school (you will need a course book for each term/semester that you study with us and for each seperate course that you follow.) The teacher will also use materials from other sources to keep the content relevant and up-to-date. Most importantly, there will be a lot of opportunity to practise speaking with other students and the teacher.
We want students to achieve the best they can and believe this happens when they are actively involved in their learning and challenged and motivated by their studies.
Once a month students have the opportunity to discuss their learning progress and needs with their teacher in a one-to-one tutorial.

What to expect as an adult learner at Insight Study Greenwich

Our adult classes offer students a truly international learning environment. So far in 2018 we have welcomed students from Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, South Korea, Algeria, Mexico, Turkey, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, China, Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Colombia.

The maximum class size is 14 students and students must be 16 years or older. Most students study with us five days a week but there may also be a small number of part-time students.

All our teachers are qualified and, most importantly, enthusiastic about teaching English and helping students achieve their goals. Every class is shared by two teachers (teaching on alternate days), giving students the benefit of experiencing two different teaching styles and every month students have the opportunity to discuss their progress in one-to-one tutorials with their teacher.

Choose The Best Course

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

IELTS Academic or IELTS General?

IELTS is available in two test versions: Academic – for people applying for higher education or professional registration, and General Training for those migrating to Australia, Canada and the UK, or applying for secondary education, training programmes and work experience in an English-speaking environment. Both versions provide a valid and accurate assessment of the four language skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Cambridge English Qualifications are in-depth exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and rewarding.

Whether students aspire to get into university, start their own business or develop their career, Cambridge English’s general and higher education qualifications give the confidence to achieve their goals.

Cambridge English exams are available at all levels starting from A2 to C2.

This is a very individual question.

If you are planning to study in the UK, you may be required to prove your level of English by taking an IELTS exam.

Many international employers recognise the Cambridge Preliminary, Cambridge First or Cambridge Advanced and for UK Visa and Immigration purposes, applicants are required to take SELT tests.

If you are unsure about which exam to take, speak to our academic manager.

The exam fees vary from each exam board.

IELTS: £165.00

FCE: £131.00

CAE: £135.00

Trinity SELT: £150.00
